Poetry/Lyrics

A Lost Letter

To recount to you

All that I’ve seen

Since I set sail

I have not the room.

Yet within this ink

I pour out my heart

So that you may know

That you’re in my veins.

No matter the wind

No matter the waves

No matter the sea, the sky, the grave

My love will never leave you

Though my eyes may never see you

Though my eyes may never see you again.

I still see the tears

That were in your eyes

As you saw me off

On that dreary day

And how it was not

The sea’s flying spray

That stung my eyes

As the ship sailed away.

No matter the wind

No matter the waves

No matter the sea, the sky, the grave

My love will never leave you

Though my eyes may never see you

Though my eyes may never see you again.

Sometimes I wish I’d been born without feet

For they have taken me far away from you.

Solitary Confinement

Have you ever felt so lonely

That the brush of just an arm

As a stranger pushes past you

Can bring a moment's peace?

Solitary, solitary

Confinement in the crowd

And all the things we cannot say

'Til time and social dues are paid.

Like a prisoner on the mountain

On the brutal frozen peak

Hears the distant doleful canines

And howls in return.

Solitary, solitary

Confinement in the crowd

And all the things we cannot say

'Til time and social dues are paid.
